LETTER FROM A UKRAINIAN REFUGEE

As a Ukrainian refugee I am shocked and devastated to see Louis C.K. win a Grammy last night. I’ve endured so many hardships already this year: seeing Louis get nominated, losing everything I hold dear in the world, and now Louis winning. I can’t remember being in so much pain since I was hit by a bomb last week (watching Chris Rock make fun of Jada’s hair at the Oscars). A lot of people think America’s culture wars are a distraction from urgent global problems, or that being furious over what happened at an awards show is proof that you’ve avoided any real hardships in life, but that is not the case. America please, if you won’t enforce a No-Fly Zone over Ukraine at least make Louis give back his Grammy (the majority of refugees believe Chelsea Handler should’ve won anyway).
